Staff and Personnel
The Institute’s staff and faculty are organised to support its programmes, research, education, capacity-building activities, administration and institutional development. The following are the principal positions within the Institute:
Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day administration and management of the Institute and serves as the principal executive officer responsible for implementing the decisions and policies of the Governing Board. The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership, oversees the Institute’s programmes, research, education and capacity-building activities, supervises staff and faculty, develops partnerships and institutional relationships, represents the Institute before relevant stakeholders, oversees financial and administrative operations, mobilises resources and funding, ensures effective implementation of the Institute’s strategic objectives, and reports to the Governing Board on the activities and development of the Institute.
Administrator
The Administrator serves as the principal administrative support to the Executive Director and is responsible for the effective coordination of the Institute’s administrative operations. The Administrator implements administrative instructions issued by the Executive Director, coordinates internal communications and records, supports meetings and institutional activities, maintains administrative systems and documentation, and ensures that the logistical requirements of the Institute’s programmes and activities are properly handled. The Administrator also serves as the Institute’s Human Resources Officer and Procurement Officer.
Programme Officers
Programme Officers are responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of specific programmes of the Institute. Each Programme Officer may be assigned responsibility for a particular programme or thematic area—for example, the Human Rights Education Programme—or for other programmes established by the Institute. Their responsibilities include developing programme plans, coordinating programme activities, liaising with participants and stakeholders, supporting facilitators and trainers, monitoring implementation, maintaining programme records, preparing reports and evaluating programme outcomes.
Legal Officers
Legal Officers provide professional legal support to the Institute’s programmes, projects and institutional activities. Their responsibilities may include legal research and analysis, preparation and review of legal documents, support for human-rights education and training activities, analysis of legislation, policies and judicial or human-rights decisions, preparation of legal and policy materials, and provision of technical support for the Institute’s research, advocacy, implementation-monitoring and capacity-building activities.
Legal and Research Assistants
Legal and Research Assistants support the Institute’s legal, academic and research activities. They undertake legal and documentary research, assist in the preparation of research papers, reports, training materials, briefs and other institutional outputs, conduct literature and jurisprudential reviews, collect and organise relevant information and data, and provide research and technical assistance to Programme Officers, Legal Officers, faculty members and the Executive Director.
Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant supports the Administrator in the day-to-day administration of the Institute. The position provides logistical and administrative support for meetings, programmes, training activities, travel, procurement processes, documentation, correspondence, scheduling and other operational requirements. The Administrative Assistant helps ensure that the logistical arrangements necessary for the effective functioning of the Institute and the delivery of its programmes are properly coordinated.
