Human Rights Short Courses
One Week. One Theme. Intensive Learning.
The Human Rights Short Courses of IHRALS are intensive, focused training programmes designed to provide advanced knowledge and practical understanding of selected areas of human rights law, policy and practice.
Unlike longer certificate programmes, Short Courses concentrate on specific themes and ordinarily run for one week, concluding with a Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Participation, as applicable. They are intended for academics, lawyers, judges, judicial officers, civil-society practitioners, government officials, human-rights defenders, policymakers, researchers, professionals and others seeking specialised expertise.

The Institute may introduce additional courses in response to emerging developments, institutional needs and demand from participants and partner organisations.

Courses may draw on IHRALS Faculty members and leading academics, judges, lawyers, practitioners, researchers and specialists from Nigeria, Africa and the wider international community. This creates a globally informed experience grounded in African and Nigerian realities.
Applied Learning
Depending on the subject, learning may incorporate expert lectures, case studies, jurisprudential analysis, practical exercises, simulations, role play, group discussions, problem-solving, real-world analysis, comparative perspectives and interactive sessions.

Certification
Participants who successfully complete the requirements receive an IHRALS Certificate of Completion. Participation-based programmes may receive a Certificate of Participation identifying the course and subject area.
