Practical Learning for Diverse Stakeholders
In addition to its certificate programmes, the Institute organises and will continue to develop training programmes, workshops, seminars and other capacity-building activities for a broad range of stakeholders.
These programmes may be designed for, among others:
- Members of the judiciary and judicial officers.
- Lawyers and legal practitioners.
- Police officers, law-enforcement personnel and correctional administrators.
- Security agencies and personnel.
- Traditional rulers, traditional justice institutions and customary court personnel.
- Public officials, civil servants, local government officials, legislators and policymakers.
- Human-rights institutions and national or sub-national government institutions.
- Educational institutions and teachers.
- Community leaders and community-based organisations.
- Civil-society organisations and human-rights defenders.
- Women and youth organisations, religious and community leaders.
- Journalists, media professionals, private-sector organisations and professional bodies.
- Other formal and informal actors whose decisions may affect human rights.
Reach Beyond the Conventional
The Institute will prioritise stakeholders not ordinarily represented in conventional human-rights training, especially community and informal actors whose decisions influence access to justice, the treatment of individuals and the protection or violation of rights.
Open or Institutional
Training programmes may be delivered as open-enrolment programmes or specially designed institutional programmes.
Customised Packages
IHRALS will develop training packages in response to the specific needs of government agencies, professional bodies, institutions, communities and other organisations.
